International Education week

International Photo Contest

International Education Week

Join us as we celebrate International Education Week from Nov. 8-10, an annual, global celebration highlighting the important role that International Education plays in furthering social, economic, and cultural well-being.

A number of events will be hosted during the celebration including the annual Photo Contest (, Study Abroad Information Session, International Co-op session with Career Services, Indigenous learning through the Blanket Exercise and the 8th Fire Presentation, a session from IRCC on Pathways to Permanent Residency and a number of fun and social activities like an Arts & Crafts Night and International Kitchen.

Final Exam Schedule Fall 2021

The Final Exam Schedule will be posted for the Fall 2021 term on Wednesday October 20th, 2021 for all courses that have a scheduled final during the final exam period.

Students should double check their course syllabus for details of their course, and check for the full schedule of exams.

The final exam period at MRU for Fall 2021 runs from December 11th-22nd, 2021.

Happy Hour Podcast Editor

The Happy Hour Podcast is Looking for a Part-time Volunteer Editor

Happy Hour with Em & Jazz is a podcast geared to being a safe space, community and guide for the ‘he’, she’, and theys’ throughout the craziness that is university. Providing advice, tips, and tricks through open conversations and personal stories/experiences at University.

We are looking to bring an editor onto our team for the second season of Happy Hour with Em & Jazz. As an editor, your main duty would be to edit 10, 30-minute episodes bi-weekly. As well there may be a few (no more than five) promo’s/seak peaks we ask you to edit throughout the second season. We also would ask you to attend meetings but will only require you to attend if discussing information related to your specific role as editor. Not required but we would also love for you to join us at the episode recordings, if possible!

 Weekly time commitment:

No more than 5 hours weekly. Episodes are produced bi-weekly so some weeks’ time commitment will be less.

Start & end date:

October 25th, 2021 – March 15th, 2022

Field School to Peru

Are you interested in traveling to Peru, earning credit for two courses and adding strong, international content to your media portfolio and resume? The School of Communication Studies will be offering a field school to Peru in May 2022. There will be two opportunities to learn about the experience in the coming days. There will be an online info session Monday, October 4, 2021, at 6 p.m. just for COMM students.

Volunteer with Municipal Campaign

The Stan Sandhu Ward 5 Municipal Campaign is seeking part-time and full-time
volunteers to get involved with our campaign. This volunteer position involves a great
deal of contact with other people within the Ward 5 community. Volunteers can provide

Fall Fee Payment Extension

Thank you for your patience as Mount Royal University works with the provincial government to adapt as quickly as possible to the state of public health emergency. Please note the following:

As of Monday, Sept. 20, MRU has adopted the provincial government’s Restrictions Exemption Program and will be returning to in-person learning.

In order to come to campus you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have declared your vaccination status as partially or fully vaccinated.

  • If unvaccinated or undeclared, you are required to participate in the rapid testing program.

  • All students, faculty and staff who have attested that they are vaccinated will be required to provide proof of vaccination and verification, starting on Monday, Sept. 20 (details to follow).

  • Follow all of Mount Royal’s existing health measures.

Rapid testing program

  • To comply with the provincial exemption program you must provide a negative COVID-19 test result for access to campus unless you have provided proof of your first dose of vaccination before Oct. 4.

  • MRU will provide free testing kits for those in the rapid testing program until Nov. 1.

Add/drop deadline

  • The deadline to add classes will remain Friday, Sept. 17.

  • The deadline to drop classes has been extended to Thursday, Sept. 30.

  • The deadline to pay tuition and fees has been extended to Thursday, Sept. 30.

In-person classes remain cancelled through Sunday, Sept. 19. Online classes will continue as scheduled. I know this continues to be a difficult time and I truly do care about ensuring Mount Royal can provide the best student experience possible. I wish everyone a safe and restful weekend.
